Philippe Evoy joins CRTG as a postdoctoral researcher bringing expertise to expand our focus on global and comparative research focus on climate change and water governance in complex and transboundary water regions. He holds a PhD in environmental policy analysis and political science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Université Laval, as well as a master's degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Before his doctoral studies, he served as an international relations advisor at the National Assembly of Québec from 2019 to 2021.

His research focuses on international environmental institutions governing areas beyond national jurisdiction. In his doctoral thesis, Philippe examined the role of sovereignty, agreements and power dynamics in the environmental governance of Antarctica, the deep seabed, and outer space. During his doctoral studies, he received a doctoral fellowship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) as well as the Marcel and Annie Adams Doctoral Fellowship in International Studies. His work has been published in Regulation & Governance, Global Environmental Politics, Earth System Governance, and the International Journal of the Commons. We look forward to Philippe’s contributions to our CRTG team, contributions to our special issue for Journal of Water and Climate Change, and comparative research on climate change and transboundary water governance.
