Naharin Zannat

Naharin Zannat is a PhD student in Earth and Environmental Sciences at McMaster University, supervised by Dr. Altaf Arain. Her research focuses on climate-change-induced natural disaster risks in the Great Lakes region, where she aims to integrate environmental and demographic dynamics to understand evolving hazard patterns and identify areas likely to face heightened future risks. She completed her Master’s and Honours degrees in Disaster Science and Management at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Having grown up in a country shaped by numerous transboundary rivers and recurrent flooding, Naharin is deeply motivated to advance climate resilience and support vulnerable communities around the world.
