Dr. Henry Lickers

Henry Lickers brings to the Advisory Board his extensive expertise in integrating First Nation's peoples and their knowledge into environmental planning and decision-making processes. With decades of experience as Director of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, he has been instrumental in leading environmental initiatives within the community.

In 2019, Henry became the first Indigenous person to be appointed Commissioner of the International Joint Commission (IJC). Before he was appointed an IJC Commissioner, he held a significant role as a member of the IJC's Great Lakes Science Advisory Board (SAB) starting in 2014. Notably, he has served as the Principal Investigator on the "Effect on Aboriginal in the Great Lakes Environment (EAGLE)".
